CRITICAL ANTHOLOGY

I had the opportunity to meet Gonzalo Veloso a couple of years ago during one of his visits at Galleria Spaziotemporaneo in Milan.
That first meeting has turned into a still lasting exchange of considerations on art, style and life.
Getting closer to his work, I was amazed to notice how his Spanish culture, influenced by his stay in Italy as undergraduate, and his deep knowledge of philosophy have melt to give life to an artistic process of essentiality and synthesis that has taken him to investigate the absolute.
An investigation that takes shape through a masterly use of veilings of suspended graphite applied on raw canvas, in which the study of light and above all of void have played a fundamental role in the framing of his transparent geometries. Shape, structure and space are the elements concurring to define his artistic dimension. An evolving dimension nurtured by a continuous flow of ideas deriving from his own experience.
